Author of “Captain Cooked” – Injured on the Big Island

I had the opportunity to meet the author of “Captain Cooked – Hawaii Mystery of Romance Revenge… and Recipes” S.P. Grogan this past weekend at the Royal Kona Resort where he and the books artist Brad Parker were on hand to do book signings at the Mai Tai Festival.

Author S.P. Grogan

As you can see his left arm is wrapped in a sling and he told me about the adventure that he had here on the Big Island the day before…. and basically what happened is he slipped and cracked a couple ribs and busted up his arm pretty well.

Grogan and his artist Packer were kind enough to give sign this poster for my son!

At least he was still able to write with his right arm

The Spin Doctors Rock the Royal Kona Resort

Yesterday the Royal Kona Resort had quite a day.  It started off with a BBQ Cook-off that was won by Banjy’s Paradise Bar & Grill. Then they had a pool party and concert that featured Henry Kapono and Mick Fleetwood.

It was then time to have a $10,000 Mai Tai Mix-Off that was won by a Trump Waikiki bartender.   The night concluded with a rocking concert by the Spin Doctors!

The band played for about an hour and a half of some of their newer stuff as well as their more famous stuff.

I would say there was probably about 400 – 500 folks in attendance and they all seemed to really enjoy the concert.
