Oceanic Time Warner RoadRunner is Sucking Today

Well Oceanic Time Warner RoadRunner service seems to be taking a hit all over the State of Hawaii right now.

I started noticing the problem last night as well as folks all over the Big Island.

Now I’m hearing reports that Oahu is also very slow today.

You can try your own “Speed Test” that Oceanic technicians use themselves to test your speeds of uploading and downloading rates by checking this site: Oceanic Time Warner Speed Test

The first test I did at 8:10 gave me these download and upload transfer rates:

Download Speed: 16762 kbps (2095.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 895 kbps (111.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

The next reading I took at 8:26 gave me these transfer rate speeds:

Download Speed: 17153 kbps (2144.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 949 kbps (118.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

And this final reading I took at 8:30 gave me these rates:

Download Speed: 15208 kbps (1901 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 930 kbps (116.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

So if you want to check yourself what type of speeds you are getting… I’d be interested to hear.

I'd be more then happy to see the Coyote eat the RoadRunner today!

  1. “RoadRunner is sucking today” !?!

    RoadRunner sucks everyday.

I had RR for some time before and always had probelms with connectivity and speed. Especially after work between 5pm and 9pm, which is the time I wanted to use it.

I would call customer service and get the same lame excuse of high volume usage or some s**t.

Anyway, I left them about 2 years ago now for Hawaiian Telcom DSL.

Hawaiian Telcom has 11mbs service in my area and in one word, it’s awesome. Super Fast no lag and I have had zero down time since the install. That’s right, 2 + years of solid service with no issues. Love it.

Not to mention that its through the phone line, so as long as my generator holds up I can still get on-line durring a power outage if I wanted to :)

My poor brother is still suffering with his lame RR conections and complaining to me about slowdowns and connection losses. Currently working on convincing him to switch also.

  2. I noticed the same thing here on Oahu. I contacted TWC and they told me a lot of foolish things. They said there must be something wrong with my equipment. Things are back to normal today.

  3. No noticeable issues here, browsing and video seem about the same as usual. 21906/976 kbps test results in Waikoloa.

  4. I am getting 25302 / 929 – That is normal for me. I’m in Keaukaha
