Epic Swim Begins Today… 47 Year Old Lady to Attempt to Swim the Kaieiewaho Channel

This lady has some serious determination!

Penny Palfrey is embarking on a dangerous mission in the Pacific Ocean. The 47-year-old Australian marathon swimmer begins her quest to swim 72 miles between the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Kauai. The passage is known as the Kaieiewaho Channel…

…Palfrey attempted the feat in March but had to stop halfway through after being attacked by a Portuguese Man-o-War…

…The English Channel is the most renowned marathon swim in the world. The 20-mile channel challenges swimmers with its rough seas, cold water, jellyfish and strong tidal flows.

But imagine a swim that is nearly FOUR times as long with ocean swells that can envelope entire homes and some of the most venomous jellyfish in the world. Throw in the possibility of encountering great white sharks and the thunderous shore break of the Hawaiian Islands and you have some idea of what Penny Palfrey will be attempting today…
