Na Hoku Festival – The Workshops

The Entrance at the Convention Center

I had a great time stopping in and watching as many workshops as I could squeeze in on my three day’s over on Oahu attending the Na Hoku Festival.

Haku Mele: Moon Kauakahi, Dennis Kamakahi and Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett

This was the first year that they had three days of workshops that went along with the actual Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.

There were lots of Hula Exhibitions:

Natalie Ai first sung for us then gave us an “International Hula Experience”

They had everything from how to write a “story or a song” classes

Slam Poet Champion and Kid Sensation: Kealoha

They even had social media classes taught by social media extraordinaire Roxanne Darling.

Nice blog site on the screen!

Roxanne actually gave four separate classes.  One each on Twitter, Facebook, Blogging and Podcasting and the uses that could be used in Hawaiian music.

I had fun at all the workshops I did attend.  My only grumble, was that many of the ones that I wanted to attend… were happening at the same time!

  1. Speaking of “workshops at the same time” and “Kenny Loggins” – he was in the room next door when I was teaching blogging/podcasting! I know your pain Damon.
