Residential Solar Services Now Offered on Big Island from American Electric

Media Release:

American Electric, LLC, one of Hawaii’s largest electrical contractors, is now bringing more than 60 years of industrial and commercial experience to homes on Kauai and the Big Island. The Residential Services division was launched on Oahu last August and has been well received by local residents. With cutting-edge technology and highly trained, licensed electricians, American Electric offers a range of services from home electrical inspections and repairs, to generator and solar installations.

“We are bringing our neighbor isle customers more than just residential service, we are bringing them peace of mind,” said American Electric CEO, Tom Vincent…

One of the new offerings on the neighbor islands is CurrentSAFE®, a state-of-the-art inspection service that uses infrared and ultrasonic testing equipment to detect concealed electrical problems within the home. Using the sophisticated CurrentSAFE® equipment, electricians can evaluate the entire electrical system within a home, without cutting into any walls. “The system allows homeowners to rest assured that they’re safe from the risk of electrical fire,” said Calvin Jeong, Director of Residential Sales for American Electric. These risks include wiring and outlet problems, shock hazards and other electrical issues.

“We can now be at ease knowing that all of the potential electrical hazards have been identified and can be addressed,” said Melvin & Jenny Ikeda of Aiea after their recent inspection.

Here for the long term:

Solar energy system installation is also part of the Residential Services division. All systems are custom-designed to fit household budgets and energy needs. “When customers choose American Electric for their solar energy system they are choosing a company that’s been around since 1946. Hawaii residents who are serious about solar know that we are a serious company that will be here over the long term to service their systems should they need to,” said Vincent.

“When we do a PV system evaluation, our goal is to make your system and home as energy efficient as possible. We’ll look to see if you’ve already taken the most cost-effective steps, like installing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and switching over to Energy Star certified appliances,” he added.

  1. Aloha,
I am located in Honaunau on the Big Island and am looking to upgrade my current 600 ah 4KW inverter solar system by increasing battery capacity to 1200 ah and adding as many solar panels as I can afford.
My system is currently configured as a 24 v system with most components such as inverters, charge controllers, Trimetric circuit breaker box etc in place.
    Please send me quotes for
    1. Batteries
    2. Solar panels
    3. Installation charges for the batteries or contractor contacts for people you normally work with

    Thank you

    Tane Datta

PS. My current top choice for batteries is the Rolls S-530 based mainly on the extra warranty time and partly on claims of thicker plates and higher water reserves
