“Ground Zero” Party at the Punatic Cyber Cafe

12 Noon Until the North Korean Missiles Strike

12 Noon Until the North Korean Missiles Strike

I just stopped by the Punatic Cyber Cafe and they have quite a gathering of people for lunch and this “Ground Zero” party they are having to honor the incoming North Korea Missiles.

“Radioactive” Chili is just $4.00 bucks a bowl, Footlong “Missile” Dogs are only $2.50 and “Dirty Bomb” Mocha’s are just $4.00.

They are featuring live music right now, and it looks like Hurley from LOST is up first.

Is Hurley LOST at the Punatic Cyber Cafe?

Is Hurley LOST at the Punatic Cyber Cafe?

So come check out the Punatic Cyber Cafe as we await these incoming Missiles.

The owner of Punatic Cyber Cafe, Mike Hale,  has promised me that  if a missile hits Puna… free coffee will be on the house.  Just teasing, Mike didn’t say that.

But if a missile were to hit Puna… sitting in a coffee house is probably the way to go out.

Ten Years Ago Today: Pilot Killed at Hilo Airport When Airplane Was Taking Off

I just noticed that the Hawaii Police Department has opened up it’s old press releases:

You can view them all the way back to 1999.

Looking back 10 years ago in today’s history of the day… I found the following:

The pilot of a twin-engine private plane was killed Sunday (July 4, 1999) when the aircraft caught fire as it was taking off on a runway at Hilo International Airport.

Responding to a 9:54 a.m. call, police learned that the plane had stopped in Hilo for refueling on a flight from Honolulu to California.

The aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron, was taking off heading east on Runway 8 when it caught fire about 2,000 feet from the end of the runway.

Witnesses said the tail broke off and the rear of the aircraft disintegrated.

The name of the male pilot, the lone occupant of the plane, was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the accident and is continuing an investigation into the crash.

Another Rocking Friday Night at Pahoa Village Cafe

The Pahoa Village Cafe has quickly become the place for Puna residents to go at night.

Last night was no exception as the group “An Den” rocked the cafe.

I’d like to say a special thanks to Jose for allowing me to come in and take pictures of some of the happenings at the place.

I’d also like to thank the bartenders for all their hard work and keeping the crowd happy.

Happy Independence Day From Inside My Bomb Shelter

Well it’s Independence Day today and were just hanging out with the family.

Do I think Hawaii is going to get hit with a Missile from North Korea… Nah. I sure hope not.

Anyone remember when folks here in Hawaii were asked to make bomb shelters?
