BIVN on Pohoiki Bypass

Big Island Video News just posted an excellent video of the recent Blessing and Opening of the new Pohoiki Bypass.

One of these days, I’m going to learn to stay out of his damn camera shots!  I thought if I stood by him for a good portion of the time, I would be safe.

My Son is Very Lucky He is Sleeping Now!

I’ve been drinking liquids and soft foods all day because of my dentist appointment… yes, if you have been counting… that’s 4 now in less than 6 months and 3 in the last two weeks…. One more to go then Pau!

My son went to sleep about an hour ago.  I just went to take a drink of my juice and as I was drinking it… a freaking marble rolled out and clanked one of my teeth!  Oh the freaking pain… and just the thought of what else he could have put in there when I wasn’t looking!

*UPDATE* SEE BOTTOM – Interesting Comment Made on Post Office Incident

I read a comment by blogger Tiffany Edwards on her post about the Post Office incident that I feel needs to be addressed further.

Tiff’s Comments:

Damon: I just learned the officer’s name is Jennifer Lee, and her version of the story is that you were right in her face taking a photograph.”….

Hate to break it to you Tiffany,  but that’s not true at all!

I was not in her face taking a photograph… I took  a photograph of her and another officer arriving at the scene at the same time.  My camera just happened to be pointed at her car.  As she got out of her car… I snapped the picture in question.  Both her and the other officer approached me as she began yelling at me about taking a picture of her.

I politely asked if she would like to see the picture… however, she demanded that I delete it.  I took the camera to her (I was about 4 feet away at the time) and I showed her the viewer and showed her that I was indeed deleting the picture as she requested.

At no time, was I ever in her face!  I might be stupid… but I’m not that dumb.

There were two officers there… a male officer and a female officer… what guy in their sane mind would even attempt to get in the face of a female officer with the male officer standing right next to her.

I’m sorry Ms. Edwards… You know I believe every thing you write and even like to tease you now and then.

Unfortunately, you have only been told the officers version to attempt to protect her own actions and this is not the reality or the truth of what happened.

Anyone want to help me with the retrieval software so that I can get this deleted picture off my card…  It is possible you know!  I just have to figure it out.

I just read a new comment by Ms. Edwards:

Classic ) I was giving you grief, Damon.
Clarification: I’ve not yet heard from Jennifer Lee… She told someone who told me. (I repeated HEARSAY! Oh my Gawd! And I speculated you were in her face with halitosis and all! Oh my Gawd!
I’m trying to make some light of the situation…

    Hearsay Is Bullshit Tiff!

    I didn’t appreciate it.

If you want respect as a blogger… you might want to tell the facts and not hearsay!

Pohoiki Bypass Opening and Blessing… Pictures

This morning was the opening of the long awaited Pohoiki Bypass.

I made it down there just in time after my dentist appointment to snap a few pictures.

My son had his camera along with him… I think I’ll start him blogging as soon as he can start spelling his own words.

There were about 50 or so people down there to open the bypass.

Of course Mayor Kenoi cracked jokes about Pohoiki being one of his favorite surf spots.

It was nice to see Auntie Minnie Kaawaloa and company down there to bless this opening as she literally has lived her life around this land.

It was nice to see Council Lady Naeole giving some credit to former Councilman Gary Safarik.

And of course, Mayor Kenoi now has his own Limo Driver at times.

When Will They Listen? The End of Newspapers is Near

I’ve said this over and over and over… Newspapers are a dying breed.

I just noticed the headline over at 24/7:

This is a continuation from here.

#7 I can only think that this got so many page views because Hunter Bishop threw a tip to my blog in one of his posts regarding Emily Naeole’s new legislative aides.

#6. Well this one was just posted recently and of course it’s the event at the Post office with the Police Department.   I’ve seen at least 5 other blogs on other peoples sites talking about this incident and pointing towards my blog, so I’m sure this is where some of the readers are coming from.

#5 The NASA demonstrations up on Mauna Kea got a lot of national attention, simply because many of the NASA workers on the mainland got wind of my blog and just wanted to see how the demonstrations were going from a layman’s point of view.
