This year’s Green Home of the Year winner, the Kumuhau subdivision in Waimanalo, Hawaii, built by James Keller. Green Builder magazine recently announced the Hawaiian neighborhood as the grand winner of its 4th Annual Green Builder Home of the Year Awards.

The judges praised the low-energy housing project’s design and layout as well as its use of energy-efficient features, including its passive design that takes advantage of the local climate. Since water conservation is also an issue on the island, the design incorporates a number of water efficiency features.
