Big Island Meet and Greets Getting BIGGER

The 2nd Big Island meet and greet for internet fans and geeks was held this past Saturday at Big Island Pizza.

I started off by going to Wiki Wiki Mart Orchidland and picking up mangoes for the event that Carl Okayama, President of the company, had donated. Well he actually donated them to me, but I forwarded them on to the event.  (Wiki Wiki Mart: Orchidland http://twitgoo.com/24f1l)

Here are the mangoes that I picked up:

I then made my way to Hawaii Nui Brew

Where I met John Walsh the brewery’s head brewer where he was cleaning the heat exchanger.

I then made way to the tasting room where tasting room worker Elsha was busy helping customers.

Once I picked up the beer to bring to the Meet and Greet, I made my way over to Big Island Pizza where they were gracious enough to allow us to use their fridge their to hold the beer.

For the first 15 – 20 minutes as people arrived, we just talked story and introduced ourselves.  Here’s a quick little video of us getting to know eachother.  Pizza’s were arriving left and right and at one point I had two stacked on top of  each other in front of ME!

group talk

After talking story a bit, Big Island Pizza Owner Jim King talked to the group about he created the business from scratch and is in it for the long run.

Then author Maya Frost talked about her experiences landing a book publishing deal with Random House books for her book titled “The New Global Student“.

A great time was had by all, and I look forward to the next one as these just keep getting bigger and bigger.

Help Decide Which Hawaii Nui Brew We Should Drink on Saturday

This coming Saturday, August 8th at Big Island Pizza, we are having a second meet and greet to talk about the internet and just talk story in general.

Hawaii Nui Brew has been gracious enough to pitch in some beer for this little meet and greet… There is nothing better to wash down a slice of good local pizza then with a cold local beer.

Now I have to figure out which of these beers would be best with Pizza?

Anyone want to help out and choose what beer I pick up from the Brewing Plant before I meet these folks on Saturday?

In case you missed the first one… You can see pictures from that event here on my blog, as well as at My Hawaiian Home.

Mahalo to All Who Came to the Big Island Meet Up

Well today a few folks who enjoy using the internet in one way or another met up at Big Island Pizza in downtown Hilo.

Big Island Pizza Meet Up

I snapped this pictures as I was driving by to get to the place.

Big Island Pizza is located in a building that was obviously a house at some point.

Of course most of us were there to talk story… But I did not forget what I was there for:

The Best Big Island Pizza

I have to say a big Mahalo for contributing the food for this meet up to Big Island Pizza.

They even hooked us up with desserts.

Cookies anyone?

Someone pointed out to me that this wasn’t a real oven when I was taking a picture of it… I kind of thought the people inside of it was a bit of a give-a-way.

Baked People?

I ‘d like to thank Big Island Tech Guru Larry Czerwonka for organizing this and Big Island Pizza for hosting this.

It’s looking like we are going to start meetings in the future with more of a target for what we would like to talk about as a group at our next meeting.

This was just more of face to face introduction amongst a bunch of us folks that enjoy the Internet.

Big Island Meet UP

I appreciated the good company, great food and brilliant ideas that were being tossed around the campfire today.

Live Blogging From Today’s Meet Up

I’m going to be posting quite a bit too my blog today.

Through technology, I can post to my blog, twitter, and facebook taking videos, photographs, and just sending off messages from my phone.  This is more like beta testing for me, because I’ll be taking a trip soon and I want to try and figure out the logistics and the best way to post to my blog from the field.

I thought of setting up a completely different site for this today… but I’m feeling a bit lazy and I want to see how this works.

To view the Twitter feed where I will be posting occasional videos from the event you can check the top left corner.

I will be sending pictures and short blog comments directly to my blog.

I’m still working out the kinks to send video to my blog from out in the field.

Everyone is welcome to come down.  We will be meeting at Big Island Pizza at 1:00.

Mr. Czerwonka only thought of this a few days ago and the group is looking for other people that enjoy the internet.

You don’t have to be a Twitter User to attend either, if you want to sign up and you don’t have a twitter handle, simply write your name in where it say’s your Twitter Name and you’re still welcome to stop by and talk story.

Of course if you’re in the area… feel free to stop by as well.

You can see Mr. Czerwonka’s invitation here.
