  1. I’ll second the public forums comment. Great way to get to know the candidates (and watch them make fools of themselves :)

  2. It’s great to have candidates speak for themselves: http://jenruggles.com/ruggles-paleka-1st-debate/?fb_ref=Default

    From candidates’ forum at Haas

  3. As an informed voter you may also want to research what the candidates have accomplished so far. Here are some of the capital improvement projects Danny Paleka has fought for to help our community:

    1. Appropriated $ 11.000.000 for Puna Connectivity Emergency Access Routes
    2. Initiate & Appropriated $ 1.500.000 for Mass Transit Master plan and fought for adequate funding for Paratransit Program
    3. Appropriated $ 250.000 for Mt. View Spigot improvements.
    4. Re-appropriated $1.150.000 for Kurtistown Park improvements
    5. Re-appropriated $300.000 for a Kea’au bus terminal
    6. Re-appropriated $300.00 for Puna Regional Fire Station
    7. Instrumental in the County’s acquisition of the Luquin’s parking lot
    8. Appropriated $1.500.000 for South Kulani Road improvements
    9. Provided funding for smart signs on Ainaloa Blvd.
    10. Shipman Park lightening and resurfacing improvement (already being worked on)
    11. Kuauli road, added right turn lane for PER
    12. Supported, visited, and collaborated with non profit organizations in our community to determine needs and supported them with CRF funding.

These are just some of the things Danny staunchly advocated for in his 16 months in office, imagine what he can get accomplished in another 2 years.

  4. This is not a poll of big island voters.
This a poll of readers of this website.

  5. Polls are only as valid as the sample the poll is taken from. What makes your sample representative of the voters?
