Hawaii County Civil Defense Message… All Employers Encouraged to Limit Operations

This is a Tropical Storm Warning Information Update for Sunday July 28th at 8:30 PM.

Tropical Storm Flossie continues to be monitored and storm conditions to include high surf and storm surge and run up are expected to occur late tonight.  High winds, heavy rains, and flooding may begin to affect Hawaii Island early tomorrow morning.  The system will be monitored and additional messages broadcasted as information becomes available.

All employers are encouraged to limit operations to essential employees and emergency operations only.

In the interest of safety the following facilities will be closed tomorrow, Monday July 29th:

All solid waste transfer stations and the Hilo and Puuanahulu landfill

All County Parks and Beach Parks

All State Beach Parks

In addition, non-essential county business to include public meetings and County Council hearings scheduled for Monday and Tuesday are cancelled.

Please continue to monitor your local news and weather forecasts and prepare for storm conditions.
