Big Island Police Looking for Siblings that Went Missing on Different Days Last Month

Big Island police are searching for a brother and sister reported missing from Hilo.

Mariah Akima

Sixteeen-16-year old Mariah Akima has been missing since March 2. She is described as Hawaiian, 5-foot-5, 122 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black sweater and black jeans.

Zachary Akima

Fifteen-year-old Zachary Akima has been missing since March 3. He is described as Hawaiian, 5 foot-6, 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, black and white plaid jacket, black and blue surf shorts and a black cap.

Police ask that anyone with information on the whereabouts of either teenager call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID.
