I’ve always wanted to climb the “Stairs to Heaven” otherwise known as the Haiku Stairs on Oahu but I’ve never had the chance.
Last year, “SkydiveHawaiiKid” and some others had the opportunity to pack their parachutes up there and then “Speed Fly” down from the top of “Heaven”.
Speed riding or speed flying is the separate sport of flying paragliders of reduced size. These wings have increased speed, though they are not normally capable of soaring flight. The sport involves taking off on skis or on foot and swooping rapidly down in close proximity to the slope, even periodically touching it if skis are used.
SkydiveHawaiiKid posted the above video recently and stated:
A few flights launching stairway to heaven on Oahu, good speedflying, but incredibly technical launch.
