Big Island Police Searching for 69-year-old Hilo Man Reported Missing

8/23/11 UPDATE: Big Island police have located 69-year-old Robert Johns, who was reported missing. He was found unharmed in Hilo on Monday (August 22).

Big Island police are searching for a 69-year-old Hilo man reported as missing.

Robert Johns was last seen in Hilo on Saturday morning (August 20). He has a medical condition that requires medication.

Johns is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-11, 145 pounds with a thin build and a tan complexion. He has short white hair and brown eyes. He is possibly operating an older-model black Toyota pickup truck and may have two dogs with him.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.

  1. How can a man just go missing from his family when he needs medicine? Seems he’s on too much medicine. My prayers go out to his wife. If this always happens maybe she should divorce the old coot.
