A few minutes ago, Devany Vickery-Davison facebooked me the following message:

Bad accident in your hood, 130 @ Burger King.

So I since I live real close… I went to check it out and I came across this wreck at the corner of Highway 130 and Kahakai Boulevard.

Horizon Lines Ship Clips Dock and Damages Crane in Texas

A Horizon Lines ship recently damaged a crane after clipping a dock in Houston, Texas.

Horizon Challenger

The Horizon Challenger

Horizon Lines, Inc.  and APM Terminals today issued the following statement:

The Horizon Challenger experienced an unfortunate incident while docking at the APM Terminals facility in Houston on April 15, 2011.  After being released by the tug, the vessel clipped the dock and damaged an APM Terminals crane.

APM Terminals and Horizon Lines amicably and very quickly resolved the damage issue as part of a normal process that modestly delayed the ship’s departure for San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The Challenger is currently expected to arrive in San Juan on schedule.

APM Terminals and Horizon Lines jointly regret any inconvenience this might have caused to Horizon customers.

Video Memories of the USS Ronald Reagan Excursion

Last July, I was lucky enough to be part of a group of bloggers, tweeters and other folks who are active in social media who were invited to fly out in to the middle of the Pacific Ocean and land on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan.

USS Ronald Reagan

USS Ronald Reagan

While I posted lots of pictures to my website… I kind of forgot about posting many of the videos that I had taken.  Now the USS Ronald Reagan is over off the coast of Japan helping with the disaster relief efforts from the tsunami that recently took place so I figured this would be a good time to show some of the movies that I took aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.

In the following clip – USS Ronald Reagan’s Commanding Officer – Kenneth J. Norton, (CAPT, USN)  shares with us a little history of the ship.

In this next clip you will see how close we actually got to the jets as they were getting catapulted off the deck.

I wasn’t afraid of the jets flying off the deck… but watching the jets land on the deck and being so close to it was quite nerve racking!

I love these little chem-trails or vapor trails they leave on the deck as they blast off!
