Our room was in the Lagoon tower overlooking the Dolphin pool so anytime we wanted... we could simply step out on our lanai and watch the dolphins in action!
Well I just got back from an awesome weekend at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Resort on the Kohala side of the Island.
This was a great “Staycation” as I like to call it, as I was able to take my wife and son as well as a playmate for my son… my nephew.
The first night the kids went straight for the pools and I spent some time relaxing in my room after driving over the island.
After that we got “To-Go” dinner (Tempura Lobster and Steak Tenderloin) at the Kamuela Provision Company and then just kicked back in the hotel room.
The next day consisted of checking out the hotel more thoroughly and of course… more swimming and sliding!
Then later that evening we had the chance to see the premier of the Herb Kane inspired movie Voyagers (I’ll be blogging more about this later)
The best part of this… is that we were “Guests of Honor” of the resort so we got to sit up front so the kids could get a good view of the movie.
Then after the movie, the kids of course wanted to go to the Jacuzzi in the dark time… so my wife took them down to the pools again!
Hot tub… and then freeze your okole off as it’s cold at night!!!
The next day, what did the kids want to do? Of course… they wanted to go to the pools again so my wife took them to the open lagoon this time.
I guess we are kind of lucky that they have so many different pools there that we never really got sick of any of them. We simply packed up our towels and traveled to another part of the hotel to jump in another pool.
Unfortunately, my son is too short to go on the big water slides at this time…
But he will grow… and we will definitely be going back there at least twice a year now if not more now that they are a sponsor of this blog.
I’d like to thank those involved with this project and I look forward to checking more things out at the hotel as the years go on.
In case you may not know… next weekend, there is a “Legendary Ladies of the ’80′s Concert” there next weekend.
I’d like to say a special thanks to the “menehune” that entered our room and left us cupcakes and milk for my son’s birthday!!!

Great blogsite! We will be visiting the Hilton in 11 days…loved looking at all your pictures and we are even more excited!
Damon, the pictures say it all… how nice for your family to enjoy the resort. Hint… they should be feeding you too, as of course you can blog about the incredible food as well as the resort in general!
Hey… If I stopped off at your house on the way… I could be fed for the weekend if I ate properly. LOL
Their food is incredible. All hotel restaurants any where you go are expensive so I only splurged one night and had room service one morning… and then did my best to minimize my umbrella drinks at the poolside.
I snuck my cooler in full of sandwiches and Hawaii Nui Brew… but I wasn’t away long enough that I would need to bring a rice cooker… LOL
I love that property! Glad you and your ohana had such a blast this weekend.
I think more Big Island residents should treat themselves to a “Staycation” every once in a while.
Isn’t that a cool place? Over at Big Island On The Cheap awhile back, I went there and scouted out all the inexpensive ways to have a great stay. The post is here, if anybody wants to have a look: Hilton Waikoloa Village: What’s Free, Cheap or Discounted About It, You Ask?”
I saw that before I went and followed some of the advice.
You failed to mention that one should bring batteries with them because they are a bit more expensive there on property.
Other then that… I loved the place!
Looks like a great staycation. Lovely family. Hope you meet you guys IRL sometime soon!
We will soon enough… no doubt about it!
