America’s Got Talent’s Cas Haley Coming to Pahoa!!!

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a workshop at the Na Hoku Festival where I got to meet Cas Haley (Runner up in America’s Got Talent).

I later learned that he was coming to the Big Island to do a show at Honoka’a theater.

This weekend I learned that the Pahoa Village Cafe is going to host a special concert with Cas Haley and Josh Heinrichs on this coming Wednesday night, June 9th.

Here are some other pictures I was able to capture of Cas at the Na Hoku Festival:

Hilton Waikoloa Village, a 62-acre Pacific playground located on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, celebrates the discovery and habitation of the most isolated islands in the world with Voyagers Night – A Tribute to the Discovery of Hawaii on Saturday, June 12.

Dedicated to the celebration of Hawaiian culture and spirit, Voyagers Night will be filled with Hawaiian storytelling, music, art and a special showing of Voyagers, The First Hawaiians. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Voyagers Night will kick off with refreshments, an opening act by Tihati, an Oli Ceremony, storytelling, and presentations navigating under the stars.

The Voyagers movie presentation will the begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. Voyagers Night is open to the community at no cost, but donations are encouraged and will benefit the Edith Kanaka’ole Foundation, Kamuela Philharmonic and Na Kalai Wa’a Moku o Hawa’i.

A narrative film detailing the exploration from French Polynesia to the secluded islands of Hawai’i, Voyagers is the collaborative result of the talented Herb Kawainui Kane, Hawaii’s foremost artist, historian and first captain of the Hokule’a, and Paul Csige, filmmaker, composer and winner of the Honolulu International Film Festival 2009 Aloha Accolade Award of Excellence. Voyagers is an artistically and culturally groundbreaking motion picture. All visual images in the hour long production were illustrated solely by Mr. Kane, while the directing, editing and film score composing was produced single handedly by Mr. Csige who applied computer graphic manipulation to Kane’s images to create realistic effects like camera movement and animation. Both Kane and Csige will be guests of honor at the event.

Other guests of honor include Hawaiian historian Danny Akaka Jr., Hawaiian actor and Voyagers voiceover artist Dennis Evangelista, Hawaiian musician Anthony Natividad, Voyagers producer Lorraine Mecca, Kamuela Philharmonic Director and Founder Madeline Schatz, Kumu hula Larry Kahekili Ursua, Director Health Office of Multi-Cultural Services, State of Hawaii Kimo Alameda, PhD, Executive Director of Imiloa Astronomy Center Ka’iu Kimura, Executive Director of Na Kalai Wa’a Molu o Hawaii and Captain of the Makli’i Voyaging Canoe Chadd Paishon, Master of Ceremonies Hoku Damaso, Ulu Garmon, and Pualani Kanakele from the Edith Kanaka’ole Foundation.
