When You Look at Me Funny…

Just want to apologize to all the folks that say “Hi Damon” and I can’t acknowledge them by name.

It feels stupid when I can’t remember someone… and I don’t ever want to offend anyone.

I deal with a lot of folks both online and offline on a daily basis.

In the last year or so I  learned it was much easier for me to just carry cash on me then have to break out my ID at times.

I wish more people would get online and start getting with technology here on the Big Island already.

Trust me folks… I’m just a normal everyday guy that wants the best for our community.  I’m very surprised at the interest and/or readership you readers that read my blog have in my life at times.

Mahalo for reading… just wish I was a better writer at times.

Charlie Wedemeyer Passes Away

(*note to my mom… sorry to hear your classmate has passed away)

From the Governors Office:

“With the passing of Charlie Wedemeyer, Hawai‘i has lost one of its most inspirational and beloved sons.  As a star athlete and a coach, Charlie was a legend, embodying sportsmanship, teamwork and dedication.

“Off the field, Charlie was a champion of life.  He taught us how to win and persevere, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

“Having been stricken with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease, Charlie instilled in us important lessons of fighting through adversity, appreciating life and having faith.  Though he could no longer speak, Charlie was one of the most effective and impassioned spokespersons for keeping a positive attitude – and he always did it with grace and a sense of humor.

“Together with his wife Lucy always by his side, Charlie overcame tremendous challenges, yet managed to keep his spirit strong and helped others find hope and courage.

“I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the Wedemeyer family.  Our lives have been enriched by Charlie Wedemeyer, and he will truly be missed.”

Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon Pictures

I had the opportunity to attend the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts (HARA) lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon when I went to the Na Hoku Festival this past weekend and was overwhelmed by the amount of talent that was in the room.

It was a true chicken skin moment.

The 2010 Honorees were:

  • Ida Keli’i Chun
  • Isaacs ‘Ohana (Alvin Kaleolani Isaacs Sr.;  sons Alvin Kaleolani Jr. (Barney), Norman K. Isaacs, and Leland Isaacs;  all deceased)
  • George Ka’inapau (deceased)
  • Makaha Sons of Ni’ihau
  • Boyce Rodrigues

I took so many pictures… I’m not going to try and caption any of them.  If you have any questions on who someone might be… feel free to ask.
