Hawaii County League of Women Voters Sponsoring Candidate Workshop

The Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission has announced its
November 5th Big Island workshop for 2010 prospective candidates.

If you are considering running, or if you plan to play a key campaign
role, you need to attend.

Thursday, Nov. 5, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Aupuni Center in Hilo –
no preregistration, no fee, public welcome

While ten months remain before the primary election, deciding to
run and planning a campaign require careful consideration. Last minute
campaigns do not succeed, and anyone wishing to use pilot program
funding should begin before the filing period opens. Funding and
reporting are always challenging.

All candidates need to have full information before making the
decision about what type of funding to use. This workshop is the
best place to get that information.

The workshop is offered only in Hilo. A second round is scheduled
February, but the filing period opens on February 16th, and many
candidates will launch their campaigns before then.

Candidate handbooks are available online at the Campaign Spending
Commission’s website, as is the schedule for classes for Nov. 5th.
For additional information, call the Commission at (808)586-0285.

The League of Women Voters hopes to see knowledgeable people
who are ready to run thoughtful, organized campaigns. This meeting is
the first step in the campaign process.
