UH Psychologist on Predicting Mistakes

If I could predict my mistakes… I would be a very wealthy man.

New brain research finds it may be possible to predict when a person is going to make a mistake, let his attention wander, or determine if drugs for attention deficit disorders are working…

…”While it is early yet, the potential implications are astounding. Simply put, if one were able to be given feedback that they are in a state that is conducive to making a mistake, then the individual would be able to regulate his/her system . . . to possibly avoid the potential attentional lapse,” said Scott Sinnett, director of the Perception and Attention Research Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in an e-mail interview.
