  1. I agree with the fact there is excessive noise pollution over the HPP area. It’s not always cops/green harvest/utilites. The tour heli’s are flying lower too. The legal minimum is 1500ft, rarely honored. So much for peaceful Hawai’i.

There’s resources to fight this, and if communities band together is can happen.

    Report Aircraft Noise Issues
Report noise associated with an airport, concerns about wildlife disturbances, or get information about ongoing noise abatement studies and FAA’s sound insulation program

Most airports have an office that responds to airport noise issues, or you can ask for the airport manager. Check your local telephone directory for airport telephone numbers. You can also contact your local FAA Airports District Office (ADO) for assistance.

  2. Hang in there, Nan. They were at treetop level in HPP for two days, scaring all the residents, and their animals, to death. I thought I was going to have a heart attack when they kept circling our lot.

What makes me mad is the cops are busting people and seizing their assets for their own funding, even after we voted to stop the green harvest activity. The cops have been corrupted by the easy cash, and the private helicopter pilots are in on it, too. They tip off the cops so they will be hired to fly the private choppers for eradication. I heard this from a helo pilot.

  3. Good for Grandma Nan!

Noise pollution is a major detriment to the quality of life in rural areas. Off Road Recreational Vehicles (ORVs) can terrorize a rural neighborhood with noise.

Since Hawaii is one of only six states with zero regulation of ORVs we can only expect more disturbance from irresponsible use of ATVs and dirt bikes. These vehicles produce sound levels many times louder than a low flying helicopter, which of course is disturbing enough.
