Hey! If you don’t get upset or frustrated that your corner threw in the towel then you had no problem quitting. Everyone always says BJ Penn does what he wants in fights and he really does not have game plans. So his corner and him agreed to quit. HE QUIT!

eg ‘Sean Sherk You’re Dead’, and on GSP ‘He tapped

If he won he would be ungracious as always, and would instead say things to bolster his already inflated ego.
He should learn by the way GSP went over to console him despite his trash talk, and the way he always conducts himself with true budo spirit in keeping with most martial arts.
Perhaps GSP was correct in his assesment that BJ’s
outrageous comments were nothing more than a sign of fear.
I was glad he got beaten so badly – now he has to shut that fat mouth of his. He did not protest when his brother stopped the fight so his silence must be his acceptance that the fight should have been stopped for his own safety.

I’m a bj fan, but he was outmatched in every aspect. Gsp caught him with everything standing up and made it even worse for him on the ground. His corner did cheat, but gsp was in control long before they got to the ground. And his guard passing was easy because bj didn’t have the strength to keep the massive gsp in his guard. Bj’s corner said the plan was ruined by the grease(the plan to fight on his back) that’s bs, u don’t plan to fight ur back against gsp. Bj is the man, but gsp was just overpowering. He out muscled him by 30 pounds. I think alves is gonna knocked out gsp and bj will do well against kenflo. That’s if bj fights again

I used to be a BJ fan (watched all his fights, UFC, K-1, even his BJJ tournaments as a young guy), but his attitude sucks and he’s a lazy, undisciplined, disrespectful ego-maniac. BJ makes Hawaii look bad instead of good, and Hawaii & Hawaiians are pretty damn cool. As for quitting…BJ was so scared to go another round he just hung his head low and wouldn’t even respond. He wanted to quit so badly, and he knew they would stop the fight if he didn’t respond to the bell. His spirit was broken, his body was battered and his heart and will were stolen from him. The ref asked if he could continue…no response…his corner asked him, “BJ, do you want this?”…no response…his corner (his brother JD) knew that BJ was too scared and weak willed to finish the fight, so he called it. Not the ref. Not the doctor. BJ made that decision by not answering and making it clear he had no intentions to answer the bell. Why do you think the doctor was even at his corner checking on him? It was obvious he was quitting. We’ve seen fights where the fighter has a broken nose, gash above the eye, cuts on his cheeks, blood all over him, but the fight was allowed to continue. Why? Because the fighter insisted it went on and assured he was ok. BJ didn’t do or say anything. Even when they called the fight, he did and said nothing. If he had looked up, said, “Hell yeah! Let’s do this! Let’s go! To the death!”, there would have been no issue. The fight would have gone on, BJ would have been KO’d, and he wouldn’t have been a “Little Bitch”. But he was. Now all of you who are saying he didn’t quit are just like BJ…delusional, whiny, and sad. And as for inviting BJ haters out to Hawaii…that’s just hilarious. Saying something that makes no sense and that you can’t back up…sound familiar? LOL

I don’t hate BJ Penn or GSP. This is a sport not a popularity contest. Focus on the fight, not the personalities! I was so disappointed to hear BJ spit out childlike, school yard comments about his opponent and his trainers. He sounded like a 12 year old. A true warrior respects his enemies, studies his enemies and comes to battle with a plan to beat his enemy. He doesn’t stick his tongue out and call him names! I was looking forward to a monumental meeting of two titans. Instead we were treated to a sound thrashing of a loud mouth bully who thinks he doesn’t have to nurture his gift, train hard and arrive prepared. I admire him and am awed by his ability, but he needs to grow up and return to the focused, well prepared BJ that dispatched Sherk, Stevenson, Pulver etc. Watching that PJ Penn is a treat I look forward to again. He is one of the greats and will continue to be one if he can get over the “prodigy” tag and do some work to prepare. A vacation?? Are you freakin kidding me? A slap for the president of the UFC because suggested he train for the fight of his life? BJ wasn’t beat by GSP. He was beaten by arrogance.
