Big Island Meetings to Discuss Size Minimums For Caught Fish

The Department of Land and Natural Resources has scheduled additional public meetings on the Big Island to discuss the possibility of establishing minimum size rules to protect parrotfish (uhu), goatfish (weke), and jacks (ulua/papio).

One of the meetings will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the monthly meeting of the West Hawai’i Fisheries Council held at the Honok√∂hau Big Game Fishing Club. The club is located at Honok√∂hau Small Boat Harbor in Kailua, Kona.

A Hilo meeting will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at the county’s Aupuni conference room at 101 Pauahi St.
