Another Pahoa Town Business Broken Into

A few days ago, I blogged about the town of Pahoa getting ripped off.

I just got word this morning that another Pahoa Town business was broken into.

Island Trust Properties, Pahoa Branch

The Pahoa Branch of Island Trust Properties was broken into apparently around 11:30 last night.

I received an email from the owner of Island Trust and I immediately went over to take pictures.

When I arrived at Island Trust this morning, a worker was already working on repairing the damage and getting the door fixed.

“…Apparently a ‘passerby’ contacted the police last night about 11:30 pm and they went out and made a report (but didn’t attempt to contact me or anyone else…)….instead, one of my agents discovered the smashed front door this morning and called me...”  The Owner of Island Trust said.

The front door may need to be replaced, but fortunately the nice stained glassed window on the door can be salvaged.

I went inside and talked to one of the agents.  It did not appear that anything was taken at first glance and there was no real sign of any ransacking or anything.

I noticed a slash in the screen on the window, but apparently that happened previously.

I’m glad that the business is relatively safe other then some cosmetic damages.

It’s pissing me off that Pahoa Town is getting hit up like this!

  2. Ah… Damon? This looks suspiciously like journalism.

Damon – You better quit using that effing “J” word around my Punk Ass “B”!

  3. Huh?

The police made no effort to contact the owner …so that he could secure his building?
Holy cow………….. how lame is that?!

  4. Aloha Damon I just wanted to thank you for stopping by to get our break-in information out to the public. It’s wonderful to know there are people like yourself in our community . Perhaps this information will help other businesses and strengthen our communities resolve to make Pahoa one of the safest place to live and do business. Mahalo again Claudia

  5. Damon, this is a nice timely report, but I was wondering if you asked if anything had been taken. You mentioned it didn’t appear like anything was missing, but was that your take or the agent’s? Getting the word out to watch out for a particular brand of computer etc. might be helpful.

Damon – I spoke directly with the agent that was inside and we both came to the conclusion that nothing had been taken. I also replied an email to the owner before I even went to take photos asking if anything had been taken so the town can be on the look out… (Gary in the above comments)
If they have determined later this afternoon that something has been taken… I’m sure they will let me know. Their primary concern was that nothing like customer files were taken…. computers and other things are not that valuable (And none were taken). A customers confidentiality was the first and utmost important thing that the agent on hand discussed with me at the time. She did a visual check to make sure that files were secure before I arrived. Thank you for asking.

  6. Damon. sorry to hear folks badmouthing you, I think your skin is thick enough to handle, you are helping!
Just a thought, but what if I gave you a tip that there was a small wad of bills, maybe 200$ that the owner had left in plain sight in the shop on the way to closing. Better yet, ask the owner to convey this to the TH for their back page and you respond here with the news. As much as I would hate to cause trouble between thieves, I’d bet if they thought the other one had burned him for a share of the take he wouldn’t be happy. Kind of like deputizing anonymously.
And it could spread, as this is probably ice driven, to pay for the last batch and get more.(you said you never get nothing, and now I read this.) Start doing this to all break in and burglaries. Misinformation has won wars before.

Damon – That’s pretty funny stuff there.

  7. isnt it about time that we get all the merchants in pahoa together to see what we can do about this ,otherwise its not going to stop anytime soon……who’s going to be next ???

  8. It sure will be nice once we have HPD bike patrols at night in Pahoa!

  9. I cannot express enough gratitude to those who pitched in to help with this situation. Claudia went right out there, and our landlord, Colleen, contacted Bud (who was at the Hilo hospital dealing with a terminally-ill relative) and Bud dropped everything to go immediately to the office. Bud contacted a contractor, “Eric” who showed up to secure the door.

In addition, I emailed Damon Tucker. Within minutes (and without even asking him to do so) Damon went to the office and took photos. YOU ROCK, DAMON!

This all happened within an hour of my finding out about it. The aloha has brought tears to my eyes…

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! I’M TOTALLY OVER-WHELMED BY YOUR SUPPORT!!!
