EPA Fines Syngenta Seeds for Hawaii Violations

I just read that the Environmental Protection Agency has fined Syngenta Seeds $17,550 for violations over on Kauai.

The EPA found alleged pesticide worker protection violations by Syngenta Seeds, Inc., in Kekaha, Kauai. These violations include failing to store all personal protective equipment separately from clothing and apart from pesticide-contaminated areas, and failing to post the spraying of the pesticide Liberty at its Central Notification Site….

I find their code of conduct for their staff rather interesting:

  • Compliance with laws
  • Competition law
  • Business practices
  • Contractual obligations and standards of documentation
  • Respect for people
  • Use and protection of business assets and information
  • Insider dealing and disclosure
  • Company property and resources
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Health, safety and environment
  • Scientific standards
  • Security and information security

Looks as though they weren’t in compliance with their own code of conduct… less yet Federal Codes of Conduct.
