I’m going to use the data collected here to try and figure out which intersections are of most concern to Puna residents.

You may vote for as many intersections as you would like

*update* The Malama Intersection is the Keaau-Pahoa interestection listed in the poll.

  1. Well, I voted for Shower Dr and Pahoa Village road. I suspect that is were most of the accidents are (presumably figures can be obtained to show whether this is the case?). The problem with Shower is that it is a 4-way junction with Pohaku Dr, and people have trouble turning left in the morning.

I think I made a mistake with Pahoa Village road though – I thought you meant the Malama market junction, but in fact I now I am worried it is the further junction? But that has a signal already? Which is the Malama market junction on that list?

I am willing to bet that if you look at accidents the worst are going to be the junctions that involve a left turn into the Hwy in the morning rush without a light – Pohaku Dr, Orchidland Dr, Ainaloa Blvd.

Damon – Thank you for participating. I’ve updated the blog to emphasis that Malama Intersection because it is one of the worst I’ve encountered.
