1 Out of Approximately 100 People at Community Meeting in Puna Want More People to Move to Puna

At a recent community meeting held at the Pahoa Community Center, about the recent amendments to the Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP), elected District 5 Council Lady Emily Naeole was the recipient of oral testimony both for and against the PCDP.

A testifier posed the following question to the overflow crowd:

“How many of you people in this room want more people moving to Puna”.

The response… only 1 person in the entire room wanted more people moving to Puna.

This meeting was filled with residents of Puna as well as other Candidates for the 2008 election, and I hope that they will listen to the people of Puna.

It is funny how once we all get here… we all seem to want Puna to ourselves. ;)

Well Except Beachboy :P

Of course people in tourism industries want more people coming. I’m from an Education background and I see our schools suffering as more students come in and less money is available for our schools.

But how many people in PUNA rely on tourism to provide for their families?
